AdGuard VPN version

2.4.1 release (705)

Environment

- OS: Mac OS Sonoma 14.7 (23H124)
- Web browser Chrome
- Adguard 2.15.2.1734

Which DNS server do you use?

Default

Custom DNS

No response

Issue Details

I have two WANs, two routers and respectively two Wi-Fi networks. I work on my Macbook connecting via Wi-Fi to one of them. Adguard VPN is enabled with mode:

  • VPN is active on all apps (except N)
  • VPN is active on all websites (except N)

Sometimes internet is lagging, and I have to switch to another Wi-Fi network. Adguard VPN remains active and reconnects automatically. After such switches, a problem often occurs: some web sites, exluded from VPN, refuse to load, with Chrome error

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Sites are opened via Adguard VPN are loaded fine. If I disable Adguard VPN - problem is gone. I enable Adguard VPN - problem is back. I guess there is some DNS problem, maybe it tries to connect to the DNS server from old WAN connection. I tried to switch DNS servers in Adguard VPN settings (Adguard, Google, etc) - it didn't help. I also tried to set DNS servers on OS settings DNS servers page (Google DNS 8.8.8.8 etc) - didn't help either.

I also tried commands

dscacheutil -flushcache
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

Didn't help.

Will help one of the actions:

  • Switch back to previous WAN. It proves Adguard VPN remains somehow connected to the old WAN, at least with DNS settings.
  • Reboot PC

Expected Behavior

Switching between WANs with Adguard VPN enabled should not lead to sites refuse to load

Actual Behavior

Switching between WANs leads to DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
