In the text editor for pages without media/annotations, some of the text settings (like italics) seem to add extra spaces after words. See below-- "The Sheik," does not show an extra space before the comma unless I'm in "view" mode.

Which project is the screenshot at the bottom from?
Also, I don't see an image on the example site for the second list item. Looking at the code, I think the project client might be missing the CSS for alignment options in general, which would be a quick fix once I get an example project running locally.
The ZNH project was updated and no longer has an image. The issue was that there was a 2-column layout template (50/50 width), and the image was centered in the righthand column. On the public site, this image was aligned left in the column.
Not sure about the project this screenshot was taken from, but you can see an example of this in https://avannotate.github.io/voices/pages/introduction/ -- take a look at the italicized text throughout. The issue is very clear in the citations.
