Imgur updated their site. If I had to guess, a cookie is placed to ensure you've seen the album page before you are allowed to see the direct link. Clicking on a direct link just redirects you to the album version full of ads.

works for me on desktop and in Reddit Is fun app, though I noticed the change in the mobile browser...
