Is a dynamic menu listing register contents possible?

I'd like to bind yank to register and paste from register, but with a menu listing existing (alpha) registers. I know there's the Dance view, but I'd like to see the registers only when yanking/pasting. Also the register view is a bit noisy for my usecase and also seemingly stops working after a while and displays no registers whatsoever
